Trees have roots. They are tied to a specific geography; they don’t travel, don’t move. As a very nomadic person and a Mexican living in Toronto I am in many ways the opposite of trees. However, they evoke for me familiar and protective feelings, a clear sense of identity and belonging. So these are the unusual, almost impossible trees of people who leave their patches of land and do their best adapting to new worlds. These trees symbolize the aches and struggles of leaving home.
